How Deep The Rabbit Hole?

And when do we stop digging?

In an election year when the 'best' the Republican party can put forth as its Standard Bearer is a Democrat-Lite it might be fun to take a few minutes to review some of the other fun items making news these days in this great land of ours. Why, just in the past week or so there have been several newsworthy stories that might have a sane thinking he has fallen into Lewis Carroll's rabbit hole of "Alice In Wonderland" fame. The only fair way (in my mind at least) to list these "Odd But True" events is by category which will make it easier to edit in the future as well as making it easier for the reader to read only those types of 'headlines' they are interested in.
Being as I hail from Massachusetts, many of these oddball features will bear a local twist (there are MANY oddball things about this state, believe you, me). Sorry, but just as all politics is local, one relies on the local for the news too, though there will also be a healthy dose of National & International BS as well.
So, here goes...

Politics & The Environment
The United States Government Dept of the Interior, for the first time placed an animal (the Polar Bear) on the Endangered Species List primarily because of global warming EVEN THOUGH  the bears are already protected under the even more stringent Marine Mammal Protection Act.! The fact that "the polar bear has rebounded from a worldwide population of around 12,000 in the late 1960s to about 20,000 to 25,000 today" according to the Boston Globe, might make a reasonable man conclude that the Polar Bear is NOT in fact "threatened" but is in fact THRIVING!!
Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne said "the Bush administration did not believe protection would come at the expense of oil and gas drilling in the Arctic" & said he was working to prevent any group from using the designation as a "back door" way to create climate policy...BUT immediately Pat Parenteau, an endangered species specialist and professor at Vermont Law School fired back, "He can say what he wants, that this isn't a backdoor way to regulate [emissions]. But the courts are going to decide that, not him..."

Meanwhile, Massachusetts Senator John F. Kerry said, "Today's announcement is both a victory and a lifeline for our last remaining polar bears. The next step is to secure the long-term survival of the species by ensuring that the polar bear habitat in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas is protected from the threat of oil and gas drilling...Even while the Interior Department was taking steps to give these bears ESA protection, the Bush administration opened almost 30 million acres of polar bear habitat to oil and gas exploration, which - by their own admission - may ultimately kill polar bears."
Oh Yeah...and the price of crude hit ANOTHER ALL TIME HIGH as this was going on!!!

Then there is the case of the presumptive Republican Candidate for President, John McCain pandering for even more liberal votes, while sticking another finger in the eye of his party's base voters by announcing that "climate change is a real threat that needs addressing." No word on how, or how much we'll pay for it though.

Congress playing at work
In The Senate -
The ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, wants an independent, impartial investigation into "Spygate" the New England Patriots' alledged 'illegal' videotaping of opposing teams practices. I guess when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued a statement declaring the league was ready to close the book on the issue, even though it is their game, it wasn't enough for Spector who was heard to say "If they don't [do something], I think it's up to Congress to investigate and take corrective action..." Specter said the chairman of the committee, Democrat Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont, who would have to approve any hearings, had volunteered to authorize committee expenses (now wasn't THAT nice of him...always easy to 'volunteer' someone elses [OUR] money I suppose) if Specter wanted to send out investigators.
As if the Baseball Steroid Fiasco wasn't enough wasted time & taxpayer money we could soon be treated to another round of hearings that mean little to the welfare of the people these folks have been elected to serve.
NewsFlash to Arlen Spector, Patrick Leahy et al. - I just got back from the grocery store!!! Have any of you seen the price of food these days??!! Do any of you CARE?

small town news
Peabody, Ma. - High School girl wants to attend prom. Check. Boyfriend can't attend but girl finds boy to 'stand-in' as date. Check. High school has "Dress Code" for Prom attendees. Check. Stand-in 'boyfriend/prom-date" wants to wear a dress to prom. Ch....HUH?
But Wait, it gets better!
When told about "dress code" girl raises stink...goes over principle's head to School Superintendent who promptly caves to girl & stand-in's demands!!! Girl learns the TRUE MORAL of story and is quoted as she laughs - "I learned if you scream loud enough you get what you want."
Ahhhhhhh, to be young again and, this time in an era when there are no Real Adults around willing to tell me I'm being foolish! Yet we wonder what is wrong with kids today? Sheeesh.
Though somewhere in Wisconsin, there is a High School Graduation that has a 'different' kind of dress code problem on their hands... a graduating Senior who finished his class requirements earlier this year found enough time left on his hands to attend and to graduate the US Marine Corps Basic Training. When he petitioned the school district for permission to wear his Dress Blues instead of the traditional cap & gown he was denied. At last report the young Marine wasn't holding his breath, stomping his feet or crying to "higher-ups" to get his way. Go Figure.

Hanover, Ma. - A private business gets burglarized multiple times and the owner of said calls police multiple times. Finally the police tell the storeowner there is nothing they can do to help him stop the breaking & entering (after all, they're real, real busy in this particular small town) so the owner resorts to camping out in his store to catch a thief on his own. BINGO!!! Burglar shows up AGAIN!!! But this time the storeowner is waiting & is Armed with a shotgun...I'll bet you think you see where this is going but please continue...Burglar flees, Shopowner fires weapon "deliberately into the ground" (according to police) to frighten thief into stopping his flight from justice...Taaa-Daaaa! It worked! Police show up to bust buglar AND THE STOREOWNER!!
The police chief & prosecutor contend that discharging the 'lawfully owned' weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling (the story goes he was INSIDE said dwelling - ie. his store) is against the law. OK let us stipulate that is the case. But the charges filed go further than that! Far enough that the storeowner could end up doing more time than the burglar when all is said and done!! The statement released as it related to the further charges read - Mr Storeowner "might have killed the burglar" by firing the shotgun IF he hadn't been aiming at the ground!"
But THAT is not the end of the story...Now comes the part where the real perp (the burglar) will hurry to get his Speedy Trial so as he can get back on the street to burglarize again (maybe even the same store)!!!
You see...IF the burglar gets tried 1st, there will be no witness to testify against him for the burglary! The storeowner cannot testify against himself (5th amendment) and THAT is what it would take to convict the burglar!!! That my friends is Justice...Liberal Style!

Time to put the shovel down for a while!

The Michigan Option

The Presidential Elections of 2008 might one day be looked upon as a turning point, tipping point if you will for the Primary Election System of the Nation. The Media, Main-Stream & otherwise have exerted an undo influence upon the process this time around and, tainted the entire process. Sadly, We The People, the Voting Public has much more of the same 'style' of elections to look forward to in the future, if this year doesn't start some sort of revolt. Especially if the "Media-Driven Nominee" prevails in a Party Peopled with Voters he holds little in common with.

I have heard the 'Michigan Option' explained just once, but the main thrust of the plan would be to turn the order of states voting into a Lottery System as a way of balancing the influence of early voting states. In theory, every state would have their turn at the front of the line because those who would go first in one year wouldn't be allowed to go first the next year. A National Primary Day seems at first blush to make less sense because it would put too much power in the hands of the Media and, Big Money Power-brokers.

Any Suggestions?

I'm hoping that if nothing else comes out of this years Election Process the big story will be that more people have been put off by the heavy-handed way the MSM pushed their 'favorite' candidates at one time or another. That more people will demand the Media clean up their act and keep their opinions to themselves IF they have a dog in the fight!

For instance - FoxNews, right out of the box made it clear Rudy was their guy and, nothing any other candidate did, said or deserved to be recognized for, mattered to the gang at the formerly 'Fair & Balanced' cable news giant. Rudy was always the lead story. His "Southern Strategy" was at first praised as "brilliant" by nearly every talking head analyst and anchor on Fox.
Fred Thompson, who played the same game of not campaigning in Iowa or New Hampshire, relying instead on his own Southern Strategy was never talked about on FoxNews, unless it was in a derogatory manner. Even though Fred's attempt to come out of the gate with a win in the south (his strength) as a game plan made more sense than Rudy trying the same thing. Then later when it all started to unravel and, it become obvious that Rudy had made a mistake the Fox pundits re-examined the flawed campaign strategy but still refused to call it as it was. Not until Rudy called it quits did Fox even try to be "Balanced" concerning the former NY Mayors failed presidential bid.

Is The System Broken?

Approx 400,000 Republican Voters turn out in South Carolina, of which John McCain & Mike Huckabee each get approx 30% of the votes cast and, in a primary or caucus 30% looks & sounds good, even great to some. Though when one takes into account that ONLY 20% (approx.) of the entire Voting population take part in the various Primaries, 30% starts looking like the very paltry number it actually is!

Have any of the media outlets or even a single 'expert analyst' broken down the actual numbers for any of these (few so far) Primary Events? Have they so much as even once attempted to inform the non-politcally-astute among us just how the Delegate system, the heart and soul of the Primary Process, actually works? If they have I certainly haven't heard it!

Consider this...in a General Election barely 50% of the registered voters across the country actually turn out to cast a vote. That's FIFTY PERCENT!! Voter apathy is perhaps the biggest reason for the NON-Participation of the great number of the American Voting Public during any election year. The feeling that no matter what we do, how we vote or who we vote for things will not change, is a common affliction among supporters of both parties. But a reason for this, some actual analysis of the phenomenon has never been relayed to the American People. Have you ever asked yourself why that is?

Might it be that Special Interest is the 800 pound gorilla in the room and, the Main Stream Media is only too happy to promote the bogeyman of Big Business as Public Enemy #1? That We The People fall for the MSM's supposed 'objective analysis' every time is understandable, after all, news agencies are supposed to report the news in an unbiased manner and, we would like to believe it is the case. But ask yourself this - Is there a larger, more dangerous Special Interest Group than the Media itself?

And don't for a minute think that the media mavens are looking out for YOUR best interest. They are not!! This is why the MSM breathlessly announces the demise of one candidate after another immediately following the closure of the polls in one primary or caucus after another. It is in THEIR best interest to not only create controversy but to prove themselves correct about said controversy. It furthers their agenda and, cements their position in the minds of Americans that they ARE the geniuses the portray themselves to be! And because of it the American Citizen is losing, even ceding their Right to Choose their own leaders as the Main Stream Media declares a winner, a candidate with momentum and, the also-rans who in THEIR opinion have no business staying in the race and, muddying the waters! Then they get right to work writing the obituaries of the remainder of the field following each & every Primary or Caucus. It is insidious!!

Exhibit A - Mitt Romney's decision to not fully participate in SC, to instead focus on the larger number of delegates available in Nevada and WINNING there has delayed the MSM's pronouncement that he too should fold up his tent, drop out of the race and, allow the talking-heads, analysts or pollsters to choose the next President as is their want. Even though the media hasn't yet made the "Mitt Romney Cant Win" announcement, we can be sure the piece has already been written!

Exhibit B - The fact that Mike Huckabee is getting 30% (or so) of the vote is touted as "fantastic" by the MSM. That Huckabee's entire (for the most part) support comes from the young, activist Evangelical Christian voters and, nowhere else yet this isn't being 'anaylized' or reported on in any depth at all speaks volumes! Why are there no reports detailing the Ministers plight of not being able to "Break through The Stained-Glass Ceiling"?

Exhibit C - The story of John McCain, whose supporters also number around 30% BUT are mainly Democrats and Crossover Independent Voters in state primaries that so far have all allowed cross-over voting is being completely ignored by the "experts"! Wouldn't it make sense for the 'unbiased' media to report that McCain has yet to persuade OVER 2/3s of the republican Voters to vote for him?

From the very beginning the Media has been telling Us who has the right or wrong strategy and basing their 'opinion' on whether or not that strategy fits their model for a successful campaign. We were informed 'waiting too long' wasn't acceptable, instructed that five or six states were plenty of Primaries for the rest of us to be able to figure it all out. We have been inundated with the media's constant harping about 'front-runners & favorites' while only 1/10th of the states have spoken!

These are just a few of the issues the MSM should be discussing. Not to mention their total disregard/disrespect for ANY of the actual Conservatives in the race...

Tom Tancredo - Marginalized & drummed out.

Duncan Hunter - Ignored until he dropped out.

Fred Thompson - Minimalized & being told to find his way out.

Ron Paul - Ridiculed & never considered in by the MSM.

A final question - Since when have we Allowed anyone, any group or Sub-Group to decide who it is We can so much as consider for the most important job in the world?

Wave a Wand

Change the Constitution! Yeah, That's The Ticket!

Mike Huckabee's 'List of Thing To Do' grows longer and, more frightening with every campaign stop! There was a time when I thought the Huckster was pretty savvy, parlaying the Concerns of Millions of Evangelical Christians into the Office of VP. Nice plan.
Then the Liberal-leaning Minister/Politician began acting and, sounding like your average, run-of-the-mill, despotic, megalomaniacal, religious zealot. 'So much for savvy.' Wasn't my first thought but it was up there in the top five. Maybe. Any doubt that the Governor from Arkansas is in 'over his head' should be effectively erased now. Likeable Mike isn't exactly the Leader of the Free World /Presidential material we might have at one time thought he was.

From the start or can/should I say in the beginning, The Governors support emanated from the Religious Right and, the Evangelical Christian Community in Iowa put the certainly affable though mostly unknown Preacher/Presidential-Wannabee over the top. What could be known were the raw numbers, 60% of a specific clique within a much larger group...what could not be known is the effect the little things that, when woven together, reveal an unmistakeable theme to the Huckabee campaign, the 'Holier Than Thou' strategy, would have on the race for the White house.

Always Claim the Highest Ground

Whenever one of Huck's self-created controversies (great advertising gimmick BTW - cheap money too) got the attention of the New York Chattering Classes, Likeable Mike would go front & center to claim he was just a 'Novice' politician and, proceed to play to the stereotype of those NY / DC Elitists who think the Huckster is just a Bible Thumpin' Bumpkin. Then with the media-types feeling smug in their superiority Mikey switched to Offense, in a heartbeat he had the upper hand. The 'controversial' "Christian Leader" a perfect example of PC ju-jitsu (for which I commend Smiling Mike & his minions) as Huckabee became 'righteously' offended that anyone was offended...Brilliant!

The Huckmeister has also skillfully played the role of 'inquiring hayseed Holy man' following the once again, deliberately Self-inflicted, 'Jesus / Satan' controversy and, once again boatloads of Free Advertising came with it. Too bad that it was at this point some Average Joe Voters started to think Huck & the Huckables were on a Crusade to Purge the country of Cultism! And at first they focussed on one objective, one adversary.

Then Pious Mike portraying the 'average Joe' (as if 'average Joe' has a glowing cross, floating svengali-like in the background of his living room) only to later claim average Joe is stupid! Remember Huck's answer to the 'Was It Intentional' question?...The window the talking heads had called a cross, quickly became a bookcase and, that was the end of the discussion. Huck used verbal ju-jitsu this time, insinuating anyone who thought a "bookcase" was a "window" was just plain dumb. The MSM Elite Inquisitors didn't want to look 'plain dumb', so they allowed the 'smarter-than-they-thought' Gomer, the Other Guy From Hope (does Huck look on that as a sign that he is the second coming?) to once more skirt the issue. Pay No Attention to the Cross Floating in Front of the Curtain! Or is the curtain just a backdrop and, I'm plain dumb for thinking otherwise?

Lately, it looks as if the onetime chubby and affable, Likeable Mike seems to be enjoying the Leaner-Meaner persona a little too much. Push-polling accusations have taken the bloom of the Huckabee rose as does the pandering & Flip-Flopping on issues linked to his own long-held Christian value system - specifically, what would Mike do with illegal immigrants today? An apparent laundry of 'suspect' Constitutional Amendments awaits should this charlatan somehow end up in the Oval Office.

Wake-Up America!

** Full Disclosure - I have never been a fan, Follower or Crusader of the Huckster BUT I held firm in the belief that everyone has the Right to run, anyone can aspire to be President of The United States.

Crusade of the Lemmings

Are the hardest of the HardCore Huckabee Followers in this race to protect the country from electing a Candidate they insist is a Cult member to the Presidency?
If these people would TODAY deny Mitt Romney his Right To Choose & To Practice His Religion. Tomorrow who will it be? Who will Next be deemed 'un-worthy' of EVER becoming POTUS based ONLY on a Mans Faith?

Since when have we Allowed anyone, any group or Sub-Group to decide on a National Religion for the Coutry - 'Anyone who does Not Practice Cannot Apply!" Pardon my saying so but isn't this akin to the Very Message Our Sworn Enemies Employ with their - 'Convert Or Die' - way of doing business.
I may be a little confused BUT I THINK the last time I checked the US Constitution This "Religious Test" is against the Law and The Spirit of At Least One Amendment!!!

Might this even explain Mad Mac's 'sincere' admiration for the Huckster? Could it stem from the HuckaForces clandestine yet so, In Your Face assault on the 1st Amendment? And What to Make of Likeable Mike's "genuine admiration" for Angry John?
In the Next Get-Together someone should ask Huckabee does he think McCain/Feingold is a Good Thing or does McCain/Huckabee have a better ring to it?

Fact: There are many Anti-Reagans vying for the Republican nomination.

Keep Your Eye On The Ball...This Election Is About Judges, the Justice System, and As Always The Constitution. Though this year there seems to exist an Urgency unlike ever before to Save & Preserve Our Constitutional Guarantees.
Too Many of the Candidates running for the Highest Office in the Land have, in either voice or deed, advocated Restricting The Peoples Constitional Rights at some point in their pasts. The only question left for most of the presidential hopefuls is - "How Far Are You Willing To Go?" Or is the question better asked of We The People - "How Far Are WE Willing To Let Them Go?"

This year there are myriad questions to be answered. First by the Candidates themselves and, for them Only the Most Direct, Pointed, Meaningful questions. Questions that We The People Demand be answered in as clear and, concise a manner as the Candidate can muster and, with as much Specific Detail as possible. You see, I want to hear The Plans You Must Have considering You want to be My President. No on the job trainees need apply. Oh yeah and, lose the snappy or snippy one liners...this isn't a Last Comic Standing Competition.

For Crying Out Loud...oops, skip that,
No Crying Allowed  (thats what I meant) Either!! Mrs Bills recent 'Episode' was either Ripped or Applauded depending on One's Political Persuasion but with all the Analysis that took place I Never Heard a single Comment about the smattering of Applause at a LIVE Event. Those People Knew Instinctively they were watching a 'Performance'... AND they knew as well that IT was another Installment, a Scene from One of Our Country's Longest Running Soap Operas! "The Clinton Sagas" (wish I could have used Chronicles, but there Is SO Much we Will Never Know about Slick Willy & The Bicked Witch, thus saga was more to the point.

While I'm Over here...
I've just Got to ask - Has the Air Force relaxed their Recruitment Standards recently? I am operating on the Belief that Cocaine Use at ANY Time in ones life meant Denial of Enlistment. If The Standards of the '70s Remain in place, Barak Hussein Obama wouldn't be allowed to Attain even the Lowest Rank in a US Air Force Uniform!! Yet there Are Some who Think his  'Transgression' shouldn't be an Issue and he Should Be Given the Military's Highest Rank, Commander In Chief. I mean you can't make this stuff up!

Be Still the HeartStrings...
Will John & Lizzie Edwards 'Stage' a Comeback? How upset would anyone Guess the Loving Couple is with Mrs Bills Oscar (the Grouch) Worthy performance? How long before we get an 'update' of Lizzie's condition? If nothing else, This Cycle has Proven that at least in general, Women Voters are, More Empathetic, Sympathetic and, quite naturally More Motherly than Men. Does this mean the Average Male is by Nature more Cynical, Less Gullible, Meaner?
That the Democratic Candidates Are Peddling Emotion in an Election is no surprise, the Liberal Core of that party Votes With Their Emotions. The Desire to 'Feel Good' outweighing all else is Best Explained by looking at 3 Instances where the D-Base let their Emotions Rule -

1) The Edwards Campaign, Fading Fast, Announces the Candidates Wife Is Extremely Ill... BUMP in the Polls. Emotion.

2) Mrs Clinton's Campaign, desperate to Keep the 'Inevitable Coronation' from Morphing into 'Inevitable Disgrace' as their supposed 'lead' evaporates, sends the Junior Senator from NY into a veritable Mosh-Pit of present & former Soccer Moms, one time or current Bra-Burners and, Baby-Boomer Grandmothers, to Choke Back a Sob, Get Teary-Eyed/But Don't Cry!!! BIG BUMP!! Enough of a Bump in the Waning Days of NH for Clinton Inc. to 'Stage' (Theres that word again) a Comeback and Defeat Example #3...

3) Barak Hussein Obama. Has there Ever Been a Campaign that played on AND relied upon Emotion as Much as the Rookie Senator's Does? The Palpable Emotion of the Obama Crowd is Unquestionable but is it a Good Thing When an Entire Block of People Will Vote For an Empty Slogan, Emanating from an Empty Suit? "We Can Change America" is Not as Much a Plan as it IS a Battle Cry!
AND Make No Mistake, It Is a Battle Cry driven by Raw Emotion, Racial Emotion in this instance. It is a Tactic Already Proven a Success in Massachusetts where a Novice Politician Won the race for Governor by Slogan-Slinging at Every campaign event... The Theme was "Together We Can", and every time those words were uttered Duval Patrick supporters Chanted Back In Unison... "Yes We Can". Sound Familiar?

The Obama Campaign is Banking Heavily on the Emotion Of Empowerment & Imagery. The Slogan's 2nd verse If it had one would be "Its Our Turn". The Baby-Boomer Black Voter WANTS To Believe BHO really is the Next Great Torch-Bearer for Their Race, They Truly Wish he was the Best of Both, MLK & JFK (with just a little LBJ perhaps?) molded together. BUT They Absolutely Know he is NOT!! Not even close. These are the Voters Mrs Bill Staffers are Hoping Will Break their way when All is Said & Done. The Bicked Witch might have to cast a spell BUT her Best Chance is to Pound Home the Family Name as a 'Brand you can trust' to the African American Establishment. 'Un-Known' is the Honest conclusion these Dem Voters come to when the question posed is - "To What Benefit Obama?"

However there Is Another faction that views Obama as the 'Payback Kid' of The Race! This small but Virulent Faction inside the Obama camp will Vote based solely on Skin Color Or to be More Specific, One Issue Voters. These are the Voters that share a common Goal with the HardCore (Likeable Mike) Huckabee Follower, the Sole Objective Is To Elect One Of Their Own! Nothing Else Matters!!

Race & Religion! Let the Bigotry Begin!!
In their Zeal to Elect One of Their Own, The Two Campaigns are attempting to Appeal to the Lowest common denominator. In Essence, many of these voters are Bigots, a minority of them are Racists, though None will admit IT because They Simply Don't See Themselves as bigots or racists in any way.
Even Knowing the Vote they'll cast will do more Harm than Good to their Neighbors, They'll Vote One of Their Own anyway. They are the Zealots that Dwell on the Fringes of Both Partys. They are Fixated on the Goal of having One of their Own in the Oval Office. Each believing that Only Then will things get better For Them!
Neither Party can afford to have a Nominee who is so Obviously Underqualified that They'll be OverWhelmed by the Opposition.

** Recently, Duval Patrick the 'Yes we can' candidate became the 'No We Can't' Governor when PANICKED by a SnowStorm hitting his Commonwealth. It was almost as if Patrick, the only African American Governor in the US wasn't aware that in the NorthEast corridor of the country, during the Winter It Sometimes Snows, Appreciably. Before the Snowfall amount measured 6 Inches Patrick's Commonwealth was Paralyzed!!  That's What Happens When Empty Suits / Empty Slogans win out.

Anyone In The Mood

For A Frank Discussion About How Conservatism CAN Win Big This November? Despite The Media Predictions Of This Being A Democratic Year, A Republican Landslide Remains A Possibility Today. Though The Window Of Opportunity Is Shrinking Fast And Will Soon Be Closed - Quite Possibly Forever If The Conservatives Of The Republican Party Don't Start Pulling In The Same Direction.

1 - Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain !

2 - And Keep Your Eye On The Ball !!

This Election Is All About Security, The Security We Should Already Have At Our Own Borders! National Security & Domestic Security Are Born, Live & Die At The Nation's Borders. We Should Never Forget Nor Decline To Protect Our Sovereignty Because Without It We Are Not A Nation Of Laws. Without Our Sovereignty, We Are Nothing!

Yet Every Candidate From Both Parties, With The Exception Of Two Men (one was on stage for the latest Republican debate, the other was not), Will Allow Some Form Of Amnesty For The Estimated 12 To 20 Million Illegal Immigrants Already Here. Another 12 Million, On The Day Amnesty Is Announced, Will Begin Preparing For Their Trip Across Our Southern Border In The Near Future. Amnesty For Law Breakers Is An Invitation For More Law Breakers To Visit The Scenic Deserts Of Our Southwest United States.

Doing The Christian Thing For The Less Fortunate Is Commendable Though There Comes A Time When The Christian Thing To Do Is Protect The Community From Destruction. Admitting That The Influx Of Another 12 Million People, Law Breakers All, Will Break The System Is Not A Sin... Doing Nothing To Help Secure The Communities Future, IS.

Listen carefully to the Discussion when it is Border Security and the Illegal Immigrant issue being talked about. Everyone has an idea about the Border Fence, some good, most not but a funny thing is that all but one insists they will deport the "two million criminals" that are here yet won't call the greater number of Illegal Immigrants, Criminals!! There should be Absolutely No Reward for committing criminal acts in a Nation of Laws.

So Far, the Primary Contests have generally been held in several states with Iffy rules about who can caucus, who can vote, and crossover voting. The True Test for the Republican Conservative Base is fast approaching with the upcoming Super Tuesday Primaries BUT a No Less Important Bellwether is South Carolina. With a Chance to have Their Voices heard will the Conservatives Vote for a man who shares their principles or one who shares only their religion.

A Solid Win for a Staunch Conservative would put Conservatism back on the maps of all those NewsRooms. Currently, the talking heads inside those newsrooms have three of the four most liberal, least trustworthy to address Our Conservative concerns, candidates leading their vaunted and, infallible polls!

Now, does anyone really trust John McCain to name Constructionist Justices to the Supreme Court?
Can Likeable Mike Trust Angry John to offer him the VP office after Huck and his followers have done the deed McCain bargained for? Will John even remember he has/had a "genuine admiration" for the Huckster at one time before Mike drove a stake through the hear of the Conservative Movement and The Reagan Revolution?

Oh Well, at least Huckabee will be safe in the knowledge he kept Mitt 'the Cult' Romney from becoming POTUS. Why didn't Huck trust his flock to make the Right Choice in the end, of their own free will and, without Ministers across the land preaching Mike's message to them every Sunday, is a mystery.

To Combat the insanity of the Liberals on both sides of the aisle Conservatives Must Go to the polls in their State Primaries in great numbers! We MUST get the candidate we are sure is Conservative Elected in November. And with a large turnout in November we can possibly pick up, rather than lose seats in Congress. Nothing is out of the question just yet. But time is running out.
We either Band Together and Flex Our Muscle or Perish.

The Christian Rift

Is the Right right?
I've been pondering the Christian Rights dilemma this Primary Season. The dilemma that the Huckabee Campaign presents to them by making it a virtual 'moral duty' to vote against their long-held, party values this time around. Many seem caught up in the emotion of the moment, the euphoric feeling of having 'one of their own'  doing well at this stage of the process. Some have decided to turn a blind eye to Mike Huckabee's  'shortcomings' in the political part of his life but call for closer scrituny of each opponent's records. Applying a unique double-standard to their decision making process can only result in bitter disappointment in the end.
Win or lose? Doesn't much matter. Fracture the Core of the Conservative Movement setting the middle class back 25 years? Oh well. Put Values & Principle in a "Lock  Box" and, forget about them for a while? 'Whatever it takes is' the mantra for the ReligiousRight at present but not being considered is that we'll have to take whatever we get if the process breaks down or the Party Core disintegrates.

Some days ago I asked if the "
Evangelical Christian voter dismiss Mike Huckabee's obviously liberal record...to cast a vote for religion ahead of their core conservative values?" I also asked if it were possible that
"Huckabee is in the race only to siphon off a large percentage of one of the largest parts of the Republican base, Evangelical Christians and, with that support attempt to posit himself as a VP candidate?" There is nothing wrong with playing politics FOR your Supporters. So if that was it, okay lets move on and, get down to nominating the Conservative Party's standard bearer. 'Not so fast!' You say? There's Something ELSE!!??

Figured there might be because there were no denials from the many Huckabee supporters who responded in the threads where the accusation was posed that Likeable Mike is angling for the 2nd spot on Angry John's ticket. Though not one Huckster for Huck said a word about 'Winning it all' or 'being in it to win' and, that got me to wondering if I had missed the mark. Sure they would be happy with a bonafide Minister being just a heartbeat away from the Presidency BUT their silence told me there was still something else.
Some had defended Huck's tax record, rationalizing in the same way Smiling Mike does about Tax Hikes. Oddly enough, one guy responded with a diatribe that included the idea that voters for Huckabee are "more moral" than anyone who isn't part of the Evangelical Christian Wing of the GOP...like the entire remainder of the party!! That's when it hit me....

The hardest of the core of the Huckabee Followers are in this to protect the country from having a candidate they insist is a Cult member become POTUS. These are the folks who would deny Mitt Romney today his Right To Choose & To Practice His Religion.
This also answers another question I had... "...
is it just a coincidence that Mad Mac's admiration for the Huckster stems from this clandestine assault on the 1st Amendment by the HuckaForces? And to think it is a genuine mutual admiration the two share. McCain/Huckabee might be the worst possible outcome from this splintering of the Conservative Vote in these troubled times.

This One Is All About The SJC...Can the Religious Wing Jeopardize (their own) Everyones Freedom To Practice A Religion Of Our Own Choosing and Live With The Possibly Bad Outcome?

Fact: There is no Ronald Reagan this time around.
Fact #2: There are many Anti-Reagan candidates vying for the Republican nomination.

Core principles.
That is what every Republican voter should be thinking about when they head to the polls this primary season. That being said, can anyone tell me what Mitt Romney's Core Principles are? I think I know, yet I am sure that I cannot be sure. And if I cannot figure out what the Governor/ CEO/ Savior of the Olympics' core values are. Then too, I get the sinking feeling the Democrats will ask the very same question again and, again and, again in a general election campaign. Let's face the hard cold facts...the Democrats will repeatedly club Romney over the head with his very recent transition to conservative values AND, they would be correct about it too! Not only as a tactic or strategy to defeat him but on the finer points of the issue as well. There is no denying that Mitt Romney is no Ronald Reagan!
Though I wouldn't expect the Vegas oddsmakers to have an over/under on how many times we will hear "Flip-Flop" in one form or another starting the morning after the Republican convention (but it would be interesting to set up a 'play for fun pool' should Mitt get the nod)!

Now we can all agree Mike Huckabee is a likeable, affable, pious and, very smart man. But there aren't many who agree with the Governor (or his supporters) contention that he is a Conservative. No how. No way. Could it be that Huckabee is in the race only to siphon off a large percentage of one of the largest parts of the Republican base, Evangelical Christians and, with that support attempt to posit himself as a VP candidate?
This begs the question -
"What are we to believe of the Huckabee's supporters?" We can be sure from all of the recent polling data that the newest man from Hope has pretty much cornered the majority of the Evangelical vote. But are these Evangelicals for Huckabee conservatives? Some mind find the question odd given the history of the GOP base and, some might even take personal umbrage with a total stranger questioning their conservative credentials, though I believe in this election cycle, one that quite possibly could be the most important elections of our lives, the question posed is a legitimate one.
Can and/or will the Evangelical Christian voter dismiss Mike Huckabee's obviously liberal record, deciding instead to cast a vote for religion ahead of their core conservative values? How else to explain this man's rising popularity within the Party of Conservatism? Many of these voters have already lined up in droves to cast votes for Huckabee and more are at least planning to do so in upcoming primaries (South Carolina?).
So I must ask - "
How is it the average Republican voter, many Evangelical Christians among them, will neither accept nor vote for the RINO Senator from Arizona, John McCain, because he is so obviously NOT a Conservative. Yet at least for many of the Christian voters there seems to be a clear double standard when it comes to the Tax Increasing Governor from Arkansas.
McCain has been accurately labeled a Republican In Name Only for his voting record (against the Bush Tax Cuts, Kennedy/McCain, McCain/Feingold etc.) and, rightly so. But where or what is the difference between him and Likeable Mike? Both men seem to harbor the same soft spot for Illegal Aliens as evidenced by Huckabee's Tuition for illegals incentives plan and John's McShamnasty bill. So is it just a coincidence that the two men have a genuine mutual admiration for each other? Some even see a conspiratorial game plan to bring down another candidate, true or not the question lingers and, in this case can anyone honestly say "opposites attract"?
Does the Religious Right evaluate Mike Huckabee differently and, if so why? Are they cutting him some slack because he is after all, a Minister and one of them? Can they be so blinded by the glow of piety that they cannot see the similarities of the two would-be leaders of the free world?
It is my own opinion but I see Mike Huckabee as a younger John McCain who is even MORE dangerous and, corrosive for the Republican Party than the aging 'maverick' (not the word I wanted to use exactly). How else to explain his often repeated point that he "got re-elected in a Democrat state..." mantra? If Huckabee continues to fracture the voting base with large numbers of God fearing Christians throwing their principles by the wayside and their support his way based solely on the fact that he IS one of them then we CANNOT and WILL NOT win in November (or maybe anytime again in the near future) because then the Christian Right will be sending the message to the Conservative Wing that they are not who we thought they were (apologies to Dennis Green). They will be telling us they are not true Conservatives.

Sadly a worse nightmare awaits if Huckabee's pal John McCain somehow inexplicably becomes the standard bearer for the Republican party this Fall. Not only will we have Comprehensive Immigration Reform foisted upon us but we will also have to live through a Democratic party massacre of the Republican candidates for Senate and House seats as true Conservatives stay home in protest. The result? Liberal Judges will be appointed across the land. The 1st Amendment (already a McCain target) could suffer further, the 2nd Amendment forget it, it will be gone (just as it would be with a Rudy Giuliani presidency), as will Social Security for you & your children when it gets handed over to John McCain's and, the future Democratic juggernaut of a party's newly minted constituency, Illegal-Legals!!!
So, by all means if you want a Liberal Democrat in the White House, vote for McCain (you'll get one win or lose) AND you might just get Huckabee as your VP as well because the liberal Evangelical voters can put the Republicans over the top!!! THAT friends is the only way a McCain ticket will beat Barak Hussein Obama and, is something the Arkansas Governor appears to be angling for anyway.

However...
If you wish for the Republican Party to remain an alternative, sometimes even sane voice of opposition to the Liberal agenda and, you yearn for Strict Constructionist judges to fill vacant seats on the bench, then neither McCain nor Huckabee should even be on your radar.

What of the remainder of the Republican candidates?

Certainly the former Mayor of New York is no Reagan either. Rudy Giuliani's aforementioned  personal vendetta against the 2nd Amendment and, his Pro-Choice stance are two strikes against Rudy with the Conservative base of the party yet there is more. How can we honestly take the Mayor's word that he would nominate and appoint judges in the mold of Scalia, Thomas, Aleto or Chief Justice Roberts (who by the way was shepperded through the process by another Republican Presidential candidate, Former Senator Fred Thompson)?
It is my own humble opinion but I tend to think of Rudy as a "compromise" type of guy and, not in a good way. If a liberal Supreme Court Justice were to retire during the next presidents term of office and, that somehow Rudy were sitting in the Oval Office I can see him naming a liberal replacement to "maintain the status quo" (where have I heard that before?). Sorry, but I don't even see, if given the chance, Rudy straightening out the Ninth Circuit Curt of Appeals.
But even more troubling to me is the idea that Mayor Giuliani ran New York City as a Sanctuary City (!!) while professing in debate after debate during this election season he "deported the lawbreakers", a claim I hear all too often from too many of the GOP hopefuls as part of their immigration plans. "Deport the 2 million lawbreakers"! What part of ALL 12 or 15 Million of them ARE LAWBREAKERS by virtue of entering the country ILLEGALLY in the first place don't these men understand?

In another time, like the 19th century, the one trick Isolationist Congressman that is Ron Paul, bless his heart, would probably have been my choice. But in these dangerous days and, years ahead the country needs a President with a strong foreign policy, a man with a firm belief that we are indeed in danger from many foreign enemies, not the least of which is Al Qaeda on the battlefields or China in the boardrooms of the world. Anything less and we invite more trouble on a broader front. Conciliatory and, apologetic is not the right approach and that is all that Ron Paul offers on the foreign policy front. 'Nuff said?
Not quite...
The esteemed Texan has certainly energized the Libertarians that for the time being we find amongst us but unlike years past, this time if the Libertarians don't get their way they will most likely show up in November to punish all of us who weren't as smart as they were during the primary battles. When one considers they are a virulent anti-Iraq crowd, this time they may just turn out to vote for Barak Hussein Obama.

Unfortunately, Duncan Hunter never got any traction but it shouldn't be an ignominious end for the California Conservative bulwark. Hunter should be offered a cabinet post, Secretary of Defense or Homeland Security, then at least we can be sure the border will get that fence we are all screaming for even if nobody in Washington seems to be listening. Tancredo would also make sure the fence got built freeing up Congressman Hunter for the Pentagon.

If Fred Thompson is also employing the media coined 'Rudy Strategy' of writing off Iowa & New Hampshire to concentrate on Super Duper Tuesday and, the southern Conservative vote (which by the way is a strange tactic for Rudy to be employing while it makes perfect sense for a candidate with Thompson's Conservative credentials to use) why are we not being told what a "brilliant strategy" it is for him moreso than it seems to be for Giuliani? Recently there was even talk by those very same talking heads about Mrs Bill being "forced" to employ the Rudy Strategy but mums the word for Thompson from these same media know-it-alls. Wuzzup wit dat?
Is it too late for full disclosure? Or have you already figured out that Fred Thompson is my personal preference for POTUS, the most powerful position in the world. Thompson, I am sure will see that it stays that way! Thompson would surely nominate and appoint Federalist style Justices to populate SCOTUS when the seats open up.
Fred could also bring out enough Conservatives to make gains in Congress and, once more show the pundits they wouldn't know a ground-swell if it rolled over them. People, THIS doesn't have to be a "Dem Year" as we are being told it will be and, I think a Conservative Fred Thompson can bring out the vote if everyone takes a deep breath and, thinks about the decision they are making when they step into the pols to vote.

The FoxNews Forum Sunday night - I thought it was funny as I watched the rest of the field chime in on their Social Security plans (and I use the term loosely) only after Fred brought the topic into the discussion with a REAL PLAN to reform the system. Mitt sounded like the typical CEO about to steal a great idea from the company CFO and claim it for his own. In fact, most of those who had anything at all to say about Social Security's problems did little more than echo Fred's idea...with tweaks of course! It was even funnier when the Luntz focus group asked a woman about Thompson and her answer went - "he talked only about Foreign Policy." Then her companion seated next to her opined he wanted to "shake Fred and wake him up". A question for all - Was that Luntz group being served food or alcohol during the forum?
Later, Chris Wallace admitted he focussed on "the three front-runners"...so glad you were there Chris or I might not otherwise have known who the front-runners were. NOT. Are we going to allow the media, the pollsters and, pundits to dictate who we should vote for or even so much as consider a viable candidate. Am I the only one getting sick of this or what? Granted, there have been some candidates who never had a chance, but just look at Duncan Hunter for both the good and, the bad sides of the effect media can have. Between not inviting him and, ignoring him or cutting him off in mid thought when he was on the stage the man never got a chance to build any kind of momentum. The media then became further emboldened to exclude the Congressman when his polling numbers didn't meet THEIR criteria. Maybe if we could have heard more from him or at the very least give his supporters the opportunity to voice their opinions and, concerns things would have been different. A different top three? We'll never know. Thanks again Chris Wallace and, all the rest of you media geniuses.

Fact #3: The delegate system is not a "winner take all" in all but a few states. Delegates are apportioned by the number of voters a candidate gets and, in the end at the convention if (like this year's is likely to be) is brokered without a clear winner those delegates could possibly get your man a cabinet post or at the very least make sure your issues are addressed. How many ways can you say "Secure The Border" Duncan Hunter devotees? Do it with your vote. Vote the way your principles tell you, not the way the media 'advises'.

Electoral College v Popularity

Various states, small states for the most part, have recently begun a trend of trying to move their citizen-voters away from the tried and proven method of the Electoral College when electing the president. To this point in our collective history the Electoral College has been employed to guarantee that no one large state, with a large population (or a coalition of several states) can 'control' who the eventual president will be in any given election year. The Electoral College was and, is meant to give the much larger states like New York or California equal representation in relation to even the smallest states like a Rhode Island or Alaska.

If as an example of a small state my use of Alaska confused you, then you are exactly the type of voter the opponents of the Electoral College are seeking the support of. Alaska of course is the nations largest stae but because the number of Electoral Delegates a state is assigned are based upon the official census figures, the great state of Alaska actually gets one fewer delegate to the EC than the great state of Rhode Island. The discrepency was just another reason to use Rhode Island as a comparitive example even though there were many other states that receive the same three delegates as Alaska.

To just be an opponent of the EC isn't good enough however, there must be an alternative plan and, this group is a proponent of something New & Different. The new system would of course be that of the Popular Vote/ Majority Rules avenue for 'selecting' our president but to impose this alternative system the backers of the plan must first convince folks living in smaller states that they are under-represented and their votes "don't really count". Nothing could be farther from the truth and these hucksters know it. They know to implement a Popular Vote of the Majority as a means for selecting the president will in truth dis-enfranchise the voters they are in the process of convincing otherwise. But that is their dirty little secret.

A concerted effort in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and, California will pretty much seal any deal for the Democrat Liberal/Socialist candaidate. The rest of the country, the farm belt, bible belt, sun belt will all just have to get used to the new system as they get belted time after time with whatever candidate the new one party system decides to hold a coronation for. It will surely be a system that any reasonable person can see will lead to a totalarian style government. A dictatorship of party, if not of and by an individual.

Sometimes, It's Nice To Have Friends

Recently, a South Florida billionaire and longtime Clinton financial supporter donated to Mrs C. thousands of dollars and, says he "expects" the junior senator from New York to assign him to an ambassadorial post if she indeed becomes president. The billionaire Jorge Perez, has made it clear that he fully expects Mrs Clinton to do something similar to what her husband did when Bill rewarded his rich supporter with an appointment to The National Council on the Arts. That Perez, a real estate developer who appears on Forbes 400 List of richest Americans, is an art connoisseur made that prior arrangement quite agreeable, but this time the stakes have gone up for both the candidate and, the contributor.

The difference between winning or losing in Florida, especially in Miami which is by all accounts Republican-dominated, could very well rest on the former first lady's ability to keep the $1.8 billion man on her side. Perez is of Cuban descent which makes him a very important friend to have in Miami, a city that is after all, heavily populated with Jorge's people. It is critical that Mrs Clinton carry Miami if she has any hope at all of winning Florida, and thus moving back into the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. So you see, an ambassadorship for such a loyal friend of the Clinton's seems a small price to pay for her dream, and America's nightmare to come to fruition.

Perez has been very generous to politicians over the years but the biggest benefactors of his largesse over the last decade by far has been the tag team of Hill-Billary and, this time Mr Perez obviously wants something a bit more prestigious than The National Council on the Arts appointment and to a man of his stature, with his wealth, prestige is everything. The days of the small potato public acknowledgement of who he is during Cuban Independence Day celebrations to a group of people he needs absolutely no introduction to in his town are gone! And it doesn't take much imagination for one to draw the conclusion that if she gets what she wants, he'll get what he wants, and we'll get what we deserve for letting it happen!

And Sometimes NOT

If either Hillary or Obama is elected president, it will mark the first known time that we will have a disciple of Saul Alinski occupying the Oval Office (no word yet from the Carter Library). Alinski, was a true 60's radical and leftist. He penned the definitive primer for the far left-wing activists, Rules for Radicals (1971) and another earlier book along the same lines Reveille for Radicals (1945), the former tome states clearly that the 'activist' should live by the rule of "the ends justify the means."

Neither of the Democrat front-runners (Mrs Clinton nor Obama) are commenting on their "alleged" links to Alinski and for good reason. Take a sampling of Alinski's words and one can see that he is describing perfectly Today's Liberals and many of the 'Leaders' of the Democrat Party itself when he writes:

"Liberals in their meetings utter bold words; they strut, grimace belligerently, and then issue a weasel-worded statement which has tremendous implications, if read between the lines. They sit calmly, dispassionately, studying the issue; judging both sides; they sit and still sit."

One is left to ponder whether either Obama or Mrs Clinton harbor these sentiments about their colleagues in the Senate. But at the same time, one can reach the reasonable conclusion that the very idea they 'might' is cause enough to not address their link with Alinski the radical.

There is another plausible reason for the silence of the Libs, and because it is even more true about the Democrats currently occupying Congress, (to be fair a Republican or two as well, Sen Chuck Hagel leaps to mind as well)  silence is most definately the best option for the presidential hopefuls. It is the definition of a 'Liberal' as offered by Alinski when he says:

"There is a saying that the Liberal is one who walks out of the room when the argument turns into a fight."

So it may just be that the two candidates simply DO NOT want the American voter to be contemplating the words of their favorite 60's radical in relation to these days of Troop Withdrawal Time-lines with the Pork appetizers being served up on Capitol Hill, as we enter the polls in November 2008. Would you?

New Approach To Campaign Contributions

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has introduced a groundbreaking, new policy to raise funds that leaves one asking; What is he thinking? Romney has announced a plan that would allow college students to collect campaign donations and, 'pocket' 10% of the funds they collect (after the first $1,000.00) . The program, scheduled to run through the coming summer, could draw many young workers for the Romney campaign to utilize, considering there will be no shortage of college students looking for jobs while on summer break. And easy, good paying jobs are hard to come by in the part-time job market, you know.

The question for the former Governor's campaign is just how many of these summertime student-workers will meet or exceed the standards of the dedicated full-time staffers already on hand? At first blush it may seem like a good idea but the idea is fraught with peril for the candidate's campaign operations. One that could become an embarrassment to Romney in the short run and, a disaster in the long term. We can only speculate what the outcome of employing such a strategy might be but even the casual observer can see it is hoped that the unique offer will entice students to stay on at The Committee to Elect Mitt Romney in large enough numbers not to cause any significant disruption to the operation.

Although it does solve a problem for Mitt that every candidate will face when schools let out for summer - how to keep the current college age staffers from packing it in when the weather turns hot - and everyone is thinking vacation. The Romney people are pinning their hopes on the prospect of earning a 10% commission will bring replacement workers into the campaign in droves who will be utilized as fill-ins for those who decide to go off and, enjoy their days of fun in the sun. The tactic exposes the campaign to the possibility of sharp criticisms and, steep pratfalls.

Beyond the obvious drawback of having to train the inexperienced newcomers in how to professionally solicit donations, there is going to be the constant worry within Romney's inner-circle that a percentage (and it is hoped only a small percentage) of these 10%-ers will be unable to see the subtle difference between securing a legitimate contribution through accepted methods and, strongarming those who are either reluctant, unwilling or unable to donate to the cause.

Some of Mitt's backers must also be harboring thoughts that this move is a harbinger of a much larger, darker problem lurking in the camp. As the numbers have shown, all of the candidates are reporting dollar figures below what each campaign is said to have expected in their war chests at this first financial marker. But when Romney decided it was in his best interest to offer a 'reward' of sorts to summer workers the move left some wondering how dire the situation actually is for Romney. Being as his campaign finance committee just released figures that were short of expectations, it is a given the candidate is not so flush with cash that he has decided to spread the wealth out if the goodness of his heart. That leaves only the "other" alternative. An objective observer or even a possible donor might ask themselves; How bad are things financially for the campaign, really?

Will the 10%-irs remember that donors are giving to the candidate and, not specifically to them? Can they at all times, keep in mind that "the cause" is the campaign, and not their own wallets or bank accounts? And if they are rebuffed will they take it professionally, or personally? These things matter because it will come across clear as a bell to the person being beseeched to give till it hurts which way it truly is. And if it turns out that too many times donors feel 'put-upon' by Rumness solicitors, well, bad publicity seems to travel faster and, farther than ever before in subrace..

Then there must be the fear that paying someone 10% of a donors 'investment in the candidate' won't go over well with the targeted donor list of the Romney people. Potential donors might shy away from giving $5,000.00 while knowing that $400.00 of it is going into the pocket of the person soliciting them on the other end of the phone. If that happens the smaller donations from the general public that every campaign counts on will dry up and, spell the end for Romney & Co.

In one mans humble opinion, mine, Mitt Romney has risked it all very early in the process. And only time will tell if this innovative plan helps or hurts his quest for the presidency though no one can deny the third place candidate (4th place if the non-candidates are counted) isn't willing to try new things, to pull out all the stops in his effort to reach that goal. But if the 10% plan doesn't go as envisioned, it could crush Mitt's chances of fulfilling his dream in November 2008 just as easily.

Just another day at the Inquisition.

The Democrat playbook's two year gameplan is in full swing and, We the People are going to be subjected to the Liberal-Left's idea of how best to bring the business of government to a screeching halt. We are about to be forced to bear witness to hearing upon hearing as the New Democrat leadership in Congress seeks to extract their pound of flesh from the Bush administration for either real or imagined wrongs visited upon them since the last time they had control of both the Senate and the House.

It matters not that the hearings will produce little or absolutely no credible evidence of wrongdoing. Especially intentional wrongdoing on the part of those unfortunate enough to receive a subpoena from any of the various committees now being formulated on Capitol Hill. What does matter is that the Democrats keep Republicans in front of these committees, in front of the cameras, and on the front pages because the real objective is to convince the American public that the "culture of corruption" theme-song they sang endlessly leading up to the mid-term elections does indeed exist.

Headlines, televised hearings, wild accusations and, innuendo will accomplish the desired effect with the Democrat base, especially the younger, more vulnerable minds of the current college age voter. Those who have been indoctrinated into the "Republicans are bad, Democrats are virtuous" culture of todays campus willingly fall into line when the party bosses crack the whip and, let them know what is or is not important enough for them to pay attention to.

The newly minted "oversight" committee that Democrat Congressman Henry Waxman is chairing, runs these "show-trials" and, Waxman will do his utmost to guarantee the desired results his bosses are looking for. This is a given because for Waxman and his co-horts to achieve success they need do little more than show up and, grouse for the cameras. Thus it is imperative that the entire exercise be successful and, for that to happen the Dems will need, and will no doubt get the help of the Main Stream Media, their allies in everything Anti-Bush.

The MSM for it's part will climb on board willingly, if for no other reason than they have already helped perpetuate the myth of government corruption, and cover-up by the administration. And it wouldn't look good in the eyes of even the most uninformed among us if the media suddenly denied the very existence of the Republican culture of corruption. If that were to somehow miraculously occur, there might be some who would think 2006 was a VAST LEFT WING Conspiracy or something.

The overarching plan it seems, from Rep.Waxman to Sen.Schumer is to keep hearings in the public consciousness at least until the 2008 elections have passed. That no significant wrongdoing will be uncovered isn't the important part. Convincing the voting public that they are on the verge of uncovering something serves their purpose just as well. Take the recent challenge to the Justice Dept. and, the President's constitutional powers by the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee (Senators Leahey, Schumer et.al.). The President offered a compromise that would have put the issue, the firing of US Attorneys, to rest.

The Democrats naturally refused, choosing instead the path that ensures a long, drawn out court battle that will go all the way to the Supreme Court. Even when Republican Arlen Spector assured the Dem. committee members that the case would indeed end up at SCOTUS, but not until the Bush administration would be out of office already, the Democrats couldn't have cared less. I believe when the offer was made, Senator Patrick Leahey D-VT, voiced his disapproval and, his disdain for the Bush administration when he growled "Nothing! Nothing! Nothing!" would be accomplished by accepting the offer.

That it is a court battle the Democrats almost certainly know they will lose on the constitutional grounds of separation of powers, which spell out the President has the right to do exactly what it was he did - terminate the Attorneys - doesn't faze the Democrats because as stated previously, the game plan is all about keeping the "idea of wrongdoing" in the public consciousness. First it was the war in Iraq that the Democrat party wanted to equate with Viet Nam and, to a degree it worked with the easily manipulated minds of their own constituency. Now the task is to resurrect the ghosts of Watergate in those verysame minds.

This is why I believe it is all about blowing smoke in the eyes of public. It's not about what you will see, as much as it is about what you will hear, over and over again until you believe what it is they are telling you. Another scam perpetrated on the American public by a group so hungry for power they will do anything to get as much of it as possible.

Unfortunately, we have seen too much evidence of late that Republican leadership, especially at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, doesn't have the backbone to stand up against the Democrat onslaught. Until a willing champion stands in the center of the ring for the Republican cause, these hearings and, court challenges will continue with devastating consequences for anyone they touch and, will spell disaster for the party at the polls in the 2008 election. Because in the public's eyes, lack of a STRONG denial and, a counter-attack, is the same as a confession of guilt even where there is NO CRIME.

We're still waiting on the Democrat plans for a host of things they promised to deliver in the last election. Has anybody heard anything yet? Has everybody forgotten the promises? How about the promise to "reach across the aisle" and "create a bipartisan cooperative government." Where have all the empty promises gone?

What everyone should be asking themselves now is why having "unchallengeable" power is so important to the Dems? What is their plan for the future once they have ALL the power they desire?

This is one of those instances that the Dem leadership knows is ultimately important to their future job security. They have gambled everything on the idea that they will make the voters forget the 2006 promises that were made but they know that if the tactic doesn't work, those same voters will be at the polls in 2008 asking themselves; "What have the Democrats actually done for me these past two years?"

 Now, there is one final question every American should be asking themselves. But more than just the asking, be honest with yourself on what you believe might be the answer. The question is related to the basis of everything it means to be an American from the basic freedoms we enjoy to the quality of life we are afforded through our efforts. So ask yourself this;

If the Democrat Party achieves it's goal and, gets total control of all the power. What is their plan for you?
