The Michigan Option

The Presidential Elections of 2008 might one day be looked upon as a turning point, tipping point if you will for the Primary Election System of the Nation. The Media, Main-Stream & otherwise have exerted an undo influence upon the process this time around and, tainted the entire process. Sadly, We The People, the Voting Public has much more of the same 'style' of elections to look forward to in the future, if this year doesn't start some sort of revolt. Especially if the "Media-Driven Nominee" prevails in a Party Peopled with Voters he holds little in common with.

I have heard the 'Michigan Option' explained just once, but the main thrust of the plan would be to turn the order of states voting into a Lottery System as a way of balancing the influence of early voting states. In theory, every state would have their turn at the front of the line because those who would go first in one year wouldn't be allowed to go first the next year. A National Primary Day seems at first blush to make less sense because it would put too much power in the hands of the Media and, Big Money Power-brokers.

Any Suggestions?

I'm hoping that if nothing else comes out of this years Election Process the big story will be that more people have been put off by the heavy-handed way the MSM pushed their 'favorite' candidates at one time or another. That more people will demand the Media clean up their act and keep their opinions to themselves IF they have a dog in the fight!

For instance - FoxNews, right out of the box made it clear Rudy was their guy and, nothing any other candidate did, said or deserved to be recognized for, mattered to the gang at the formerly 'Fair & Balanced' cable news giant. Rudy was always the lead story. His "Southern Strategy" was at first praised as "brilliant" by nearly every talking head analyst and anchor on Fox.
Fred Thompson, who played the same game of not campaigning in Iowa or New Hampshire, relying instead on his own Southern Strategy was never talked about on FoxNews, unless it was in a derogatory manner. Even though Fred's attempt to come out of the gate with a win in the south (his strength) as a game plan made more sense than Rudy trying the same thing. Then later when it all started to unravel and, it become obvious that Rudy had made a mistake the Fox pundits re-examined the flawed campaign strategy but still refused to call it as it was. Not until Rudy called it quits did Fox even try to be "Balanced" concerning the former NY Mayors failed presidential bid.
