Change the Constitution! Yeah, That's The Ticket!

Mike Huckabee's 'List of Thing To Do' grows longer and, more frightening with every campaign stop! There was a time when I thought the Huckster was pretty savvy, parlaying the Concerns of Millions of Evangelical Christians into the Office of VP. Nice plan.
Then the Liberal-leaning Minister/Politician began acting and, sounding like your average, run-of-the-mill, despotic, megalomaniacal, religious zealot. 'So much for savvy.' Wasn't my first thought but it was up there in the top five. Maybe. Any doubt that the Governor from Arkansas is in 'over his head' should be effectively erased now. Likeable Mike isn't exactly the Leader of the Free World /Presidential material we might have at one time thought he was.

From the start or can/should I say in the beginning, The Governors support emanated from the Religious Right and, the Evangelical Christian Community in Iowa put the certainly affable though mostly unknown Preacher/Presidential-Wannabee over the top. What could be known were the raw numbers, 60% of a specific clique within a much larger group...what could not be known is the effect the little things that, when woven together, reveal an unmistakeable theme to the Huckabee campaign, the 'Holier Than Thou' strategy, would have on the race for the White house.

Always Claim the Highest Ground

Whenever one of Huck's self-created controversies (great advertising gimmick BTW - cheap money too) got the attention of the New York Chattering Classes, Likeable Mike would go front & center to claim he was just a 'Novice' politician and, proceed to play to the stereotype of those NY / DC Elitists who think the Huckster is just a Bible Thumpin' Bumpkin. Then with the media-types feeling smug in their superiority Mikey switched to Offense, in a heartbeat he had the upper hand. The 'controversial' "Christian Leader" a perfect example of PC ju-jitsu (for which I commend Smiling Mike & his minions) as Huckabee became 'righteously' offended that anyone was offended...Brilliant!

The Huckmeister has also skillfully played the role of 'inquiring hayseed Holy man' following the once again, deliberately Self-inflicted, 'Jesus / Satan' controversy and, once again boatloads of Free Advertising came with it. Too bad that it was at this point some Average Joe Voters started to think Huck & the Huckables were on a Crusade to Purge the country of Cultism! And at first they focussed on one objective, one adversary.

Then Pious Mike portraying the 'average Joe' (as if 'average Joe' has a glowing cross, floating svengali-like in the background of his living room) only to later claim average Joe is stupid! Remember Huck's answer to the 'Was It Intentional' question?...The window the talking heads had called a cross, quickly became a bookcase and, that was the end of the discussion. Huck used verbal ju-jitsu this time, insinuating anyone who thought a "bookcase" was a "window" was just plain dumb. The MSM Elite Inquisitors didn't want to look 'plain dumb', so they allowed the 'smarter-than-they-thought' Gomer, the Other Guy From Hope (does Huck look on that as a sign that he is the second coming?) to once more skirt the issue. Pay No Attention to the Cross Floating in Front of the Curtain! Or is the curtain just a backdrop and, I'm plain dumb for thinking otherwise?

Lately, it looks as if the onetime chubby and affable, Likeable Mike seems to be enjoying the Leaner-Meaner persona a little too much. Push-polling accusations have taken the bloom of the Huckabee rose as does the pandering & Flip-Flopping on issues linked to his own long-held Christian value system - specifically, what would Mike do with illegal immigrants today? An apparent laundry of 'suspect' Constitutional Amendments awaits should this charlatan somehow end up in the Oval Office.

Wake-Up America!

** Full Disclosure - I have never been a fan, Follower or Crusader of the Huckster BUT I held firm in the belief that everyone has the Right to run, anyone can aspire to be President of The United States.
