The Democrat playbook's two year gameplan is in full swing and, We the People are going to be subjected to the Liberal-Left's idea of how best to bring the business of government to a screeching halt. We are about to be forced to bear witness to hearing upon hearing as the New Democrat leadership in Congress seeks to extract their pound of flesh from the Bush administration for either real or imagined wrongs visited upon them since the last time they had control of both the Senate and the House.
It matters not that the hearings will produce little or absolutely no credible evidence of wrongdoing. Especially intentional wrongdoing on the part of those unfortunate enough to receive a subpoena from any of the various committees now being formulated on Capitol Hill. What does matter is that the Democrats keep Republicans in front of these committees, in front of the cameras, and on the front pages because the real objective is to convince the American public that the "culture of corruption" theme-song they sang endlessly leading up to the mid-term elections does indeed exist.
Headlines, televised hearings, wild accusations and, innuendo will accomplish the desired effect with the Democrat base, especially the younger, more vulnerable minds of the current college age voter. Those who have been indoctrinated into the "Republicans are bad, Democrats are virtuous" culture of todays campus willingly fall into line when the party bosses crack the whip and, let them know what is or is not important enough for them to pay attention to.
The newly minted "oversight" committee that Democrat Congressman Henry Waxman is chairing, runs these "show-trials" and, Waxman will do his utmost to guarantee the desired results his bosses are looking for. This is a given because for Waxman and his co-horts to achieve success they need do little more than show up and, grouse for the cameras. Thus it is imperative that the entire exercise be successful and, for that to happen the Dems will need, and will no doubt get the help of the Main Stream Media, their allies in everything Anti-Bush.
The MSM for it's part will climb on board willingly, if for no other reason than they have already helped perpetuate the myth of government corruption, and cover-up by the administration. And it wouldn't look good in the eyes of even the most uninformed among us if the media suddenly denied the very existence of the Republican culture of corruption. If that were to somehow miraculously occur, there might be some who would think 2006 was a VAST LEFT WING Conspiracy or something.
The overarching plan it seems, from Rep.Waxman to Sen.Schumer is to keep hearings in the public consciousness at least until the 2008 elections have passed. That no significant wrongdoing will be uncovered isn't the important part. Convincing the voting public that they are on the verge of uncovering something serves their purpose just as well. Take the recent challenge to the Justice Dept. and, the President's constitutional powers by the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee (Senators Leahey, Schumer et.al.). The President offered a compromise that would have put the issue, the firing of US Attorneys, to rest.
The Democrats naturally refused, choosing instead the path that ensures a long, drawn out court battle that will go all the way to the Supreme Court. Even when Republican Arlen Spector assured the Dem. committee members that the case would indeed end up at SCOTUS, but not until the Bush administration would be out of office already, the Democrats couldn't have cared less. I believe when the offer was made, Senator Patrick Leahey D-VT, voiced his disapproval and, his disdain for the Bush administration when he growled "Nothing! Nothing! Nothing!" would be accomplished by accepting the offer.
That it is a court battle the Democrats almost certainly know they will lose on the constitutional grounds of separation of powers, which spell out the President has the right to do exactly what it was he did - terminate the Attorneys - doesn't faze the Democrats because as stated previously, the game plan is all about keeping the "idea of wrongdoing" in the public consciousness. First it was the war in Iraq that the Democrat party wanted to equate with Viet Nam and, to a degree it worked with the easily manipulated minds of their own constituency. Now the task is to resurrect the ghosts of Watergate in those verysame minds.
This is why I believe it is all about blowing smoke in the eyes of public. It's not about what you will see, as much as it is about what you will hear, over and over again until you believe what it is they are telling you. Another scam perpetrated on the American public by a group so hungry for power they will do anything to get as much of it as possible.
Unfortunately, we have seen too much evidence of late that Republican leadership, especially at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, doesn't have the backbone to stand up against the Democrat onslaught. Until a willing champion stands in the center of the ring for the Republican cause, these hearings and, court challenges will continue with devastating consequences for anyone they touch and, will spell disaster for the party at the polls in the 2008 election. Because in the public's eyes, lack of a STRONG denial and, a counter-attack, is the same as a confession of guilt even where there is NO CRIME.
We're still waiting on the Democrat plans for a host of things they promised to deliver in the last election. Has anybody heard anything yet? Has everybody forgotten the promises? How about the promise to "reach across the aisle" and "create a bipartisan cooperative government." Where have all the empty promises gone?
What everyone should be asking themselves now is why having "unchallengeable" power is so important to the Dems? What is their plan for the future once they have ALL the power they desire?
This is one of those instances that the Dem leadership knows is ultimately important to their future job security. They have gambled everything on the idea that they will make the voters forget the 2006 promises that were made but they know that if the tactic doesn't work, those same voters will be at the polls in 2008 asking themselves; "What have the Democrats actually done for me these past two years?"
Now, there is one final question every American should be asking themselves. But more than just the asking, be honest with yourself on what you believe might be the answer. The question is related to the basis of everything it means to be an American from the basic freedoms we enjoy to the quality of life we are afforded through our efforts. So ask yourself this;
If the Democrat Party achieves it's goal and, gets total control of all the power. What is their plan for you?
